192387 children given dose under polio immunisation drive

Under the Polio immunization drive, ‘Polio Sunday’ was observed on Sunday in the city. Under this initiative, one lakh 92 thousand 387 children in Nagpur city were vaccinated against polio on Sunday. The percentage of children vaccinated is 69.59 and the target is to give a dose to a total of 2 lakh 76 thousand 473 children in the city.
The launch of ‘Polio Sunday’ in Nagpur city took place in Prabhakarrao Datke Mahal Diagnosis Center at the hands of Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari. Deputy Mayor Manisha Dhawade, Additional Commissioner Ram Joshi, Corporator Shraddha Pathak, Sumedha Deshpande, Medical Health Officer Dr. Sanjay Chilkar, District Surgeon Dr. Devendra Paturkar, Assistant Medical Health Officer Dr. Narendra Bahirwar, Assistant Medical Health Officer Vijay Joshi, S.M.O. Dr. Sajid Khan, Gandhibagh Zone Assistant Commissioner Ashok Patil, Dr. Tikesh Bisen, Pulse Polio Nodal Officer Vaishali Mohkar, Dr. Seema Kadu, Dr. Shama Mujawar, Sheetal Govindwar, Dr. Moinuddin Khwaja, Balwinder Singh of Lions Club were present.

Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari inaugurated the campaign by giving a polio dose to Ananya Pathak. He appealed to all concerned parents in Nagpur to give polio dose to their children below the age of five so that no polio patient is found in Nagpur in the future. He also instructed the health department officials to ensure that no child in the city is deprived of the polio dose.

A total of 1529 booths were set up in the city in places like Municipal Corporation Hospitals, NGO run Hospitals, Government Hospitals, Railway Hospitals, Railway Station, Ganesh Temple, Swaminarayan Temple, where the immunization drive was carried out.
